VITAMIN C

VITAMIN C

We hear all of the time about how we should use Vitamin C and antioxidants on our skin. But why? Why do we need vitamin C? How does it work?

If I was to pick two products to keep. It would be vitamin C and sunscreen. That's how much I love vitamin C. Let me explain why we need it and how it works. When we are exposed to the sun, it emits rays. UVA and UVB. UVA is the aging ray. It travels deep into our skin and creates free radicals. Those free radicals in turn age us. The Vitamin C finds those free radicals and breaks them up. This in turn prevents aging. It is a game changer people! It prevents aging, helps with discoloration and wrinkles.

So, bottom line.... go buy some Vitamin C. Which one to buy? How do I know what's good. Here are a few guidelines:

  • Must be at least 10% Vitamin C
  • Vitamin C is very unstable so I like to get one with Ferulic Acid which helps stabilize the serum.
  • Make sure if it's in the form of a serum, it's in a bottle that will protect it from exposure. (example, a brown glass bottle)
  • L Ascorbic Acid (a type of Vitamin C) packs a punch, so use it twice a week and work your way up.
  • It's always used in the morning right after you cleanse. (remember, don't use with any other acids)
